Before every Horde Siege mission you pick a class. A class defines four things: a starting loadout, a passive combat bonus, an unlock progression, and a Tactical Gear — a powerful piece of equipment on a timed cooldown. Four classes ship at launch, with more planned in seasonal updates.
The Four Classes
| Class | Focus | Tactical Gear | Passive bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | Midrange, flexibility | Sonic Disruptor — stuns incoming waves (objective defense) | Damage boost while in cover |
| Breacher | Close range, frontline | Adrenaline Injector — refills health, cuts damage taken | Resistance to status effects & melee |
| Marksman | Precision, long sightlines | Pulse Drone — tags Locust for the whole squad | Improved critical-hit damage |
| Medic | Revives, sustain | Stim Vaporizer — heals & revives any Gear in range, including other squads | Faster health regeneration |
Classes are cosmetically independent — any class pairs with any character skin — and stacking is allowed: "If you want to drop into a mission with four Breachers… that's up to you!"
Progression: 30 Levels per Class
- Completing missions earns Class Experience; each class levels independently to 30
- Levelling unlocks loadout weapons, Armor Mods (health, ammo, swap speed — some add perfect-active ammo from executions), Tactical Gear Mods (cooldown, range, extra effects) and milestone health/damage increases
- Per-class unlock tables haven't been published — that data lands post-launch
The Weapon Mod Economy
- Weapon Mods are unlocked on the class track, then bought with Weapon Parts earned in matches
- Weapon customization is shared across classes: modding a Lancer on Assault applies whenever any class equips that Lancer
- That makes Weapon Parts, not class level, the real build bottleneck
Difficulty & Class Level (reported)
Difficulty tiers are gated by class level rather than a free slider — reported ladder: Rookie (1–10) → Infantry (10–20) → Commander (20–30) → Allfather (max level). The game suggests a tier; the squad chooses. Verify at launch.
Squad Composition Tips
- Missing a Medic hurts most on long playlists — revives fall on whoever's nearest
- Balanced comps (one of each) fit the classic 50–60 minute Horde playlist
- Assault is the flexibility pick when the other three slots are specialized
- Marksman and Medic enable cross-squad play: tag targets and revive allies across the whole map
Questions
How many classes does Horde Siege have?
Four at launch — Assault, Breacher, Marksman, Medic — with more coming in seasonal updates.
Can you change class mid-mission?
No — class is locked at squad select. The real decision happens in the pre-game lobby.
What is Tactical Gear?
Each class's unique powerful equipment on a timed cooldown — the Sonic Disruptor, Adrenaline Injector, Pulse Drone or Stim Vaporizer.
Do weapon mods carry between classes?
Yes — weapon customization is shared across classes; only class tracks (loadouts, gear, passives) are individual.
